Gavan Boschele went in-depth on the incident between himself and Max Reaves during the ARCA Menards Series race at the Springfield Mile that ended his chances at a win.
In the closing laps, Reaves got held up by a lap car and drifted up the track. Boschele quickly filled the gap and went three-wide with the lap car. Reaves then came down the track and made contact with Boschele. Boschele responded by turning his car up the track and into Reaves. They both then dove into the corner and Boschele got sideways. Reaves slipped to his outside and went on to the win the race.
On the cooldown lap, Boschele, who finished fifth, expressed his displeasure with Reaves with some sign language.

It was also reported that Boschele attempted to confront Reaves while he was celebrating in victory lane with Ryan Mahan of the State Journal-Register reporting, “Gavan Boschele is LIVID! He came out onto victory lane to confront Max Reaves for that spin out. ARCA officials had to hold him back.”

After attempting to confront Reaves, Boschele took to social media where he issued an apparent threat, “If you can’t beat em wreck em, I’ll see everyone at DuQuoin.. That’s gonna be some fun I’ll tell you that 🐕”

Now, in an appearance on the Rubbin’ Is Racing podcast, Boschele shared his point of view on it all, “We didn’t start off the best. Our car wasn’t that good, to be honest. And made some changes at the stage break. I think we just drove through the field. I got to him. I caught him from like half a straightaway. He messed up and he let me get by him. He tried to right hook me down the straightaway. And then, the camera doesn’t really do it justice ’cause he pushed me all the way into the corner. He had me lifted up into the corner. Sent me off in there. And then it shows a gap in the camera. And then after that, it goes back and he just finishes me off.”
“Kid just dumps everybody,” he continued. “i don’t know what he’s doing. I’m sick and tired of it. So I was pretty hot after the race. I’m 18. He’s 16. So can’t really do anything. Get in trouble. The kid’s he’s a hack.”
A little bit later in the interview, Boschele shared what went down when he attempted to confront Reaves in victory lane, “I ran to the front stretch and I was going to talk to him, but the officials wouldn’t let me get to him. They just told me to go to my hauler. I don’t know why they said they removed me from the track. They just told me to go to my hauler. They just wouldn’t let me come out. They made me go out the side door. I was trying to get to my rental car and I had to walk-. The route I would go I would have to walk around his hauler, but they wouldn’t let me go out the right way. So I had to go out the side door and everything.”
“I didn’t get removed,” he clarified. “They just told me to stay in my hauler.”
Additionally, he revealed that he has not received any other communication from officials regarding the incident, “I haven’t got a text from anyone or anything yet about any punishments or stuff like that. So I’m not sure if-.”
Boschele later reiterated his displeasure with the way Reaves raced him in those closing laps, “It just shows he doesn’t care. I understand getting into someone like that, [but] he just tried to right hook me down the straightaway and then just completely took me out. I don’t know what his thought process is when he’s doing. He seems to do it to everyone every weekend. It kind of baffles that me he drives like that. It’s definitely annoying and frustrating knowing that you have the lead two laps to go, pry going to win the race, and just drives through you. So, I think it’s a recurring theme with everybody in the field. It definitely sucks. It’s not fun.”
“The best advice that I was given is just go out there and beat him,” Boschele concluded. “So I’m just going to go out there and just put a old good spanking on him. I’m just going to hopefully run laps around him. That’s the best way you can do it, just beating somebody. I don’t like racing like that. I’ve never raced like that. I’ve had my time [where] I’ve made accidents and I’ve apologized. It’s just the fact that if he would’ve came up and apologized obviously I still would have been mad, but he just doesn’t apologize or say anything to me. Hasn’t reached out. Instead he just kind of thinks it’s a joke and just kind of rides his high horse and just has a super high ego.”
The two will likely run into each other next when the ARCA Menards Series return to a dirt track at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for the Audubon Park 100 on September 6th.
