The inaugural season of the POWRi Mel Hambelton Racing Heartland Late Model Tour continues this weekend with a pair of $5,000-to-win events. The tour heads north for a Missouri doubleheader at Valley Speedway on Friday night and Moberly Motorsports Park on Saturday night.

Friday’s “Shootout in the Valley” Presented by Lies Trash Service at Valley Speedway and Saturday’s “Half Mile Hustle” at Moberly Motorsports Park will each pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start the A-Main, giving competitors a major opportunity to build momentum early in the inaugural HLMT championship campaign.

The upcoming weekend follows a successful and highly competitive series debut two weeks ago at Legit Speedway Park, where fans were treated to two dramatically different feature races featuring some of the region’s top Dirt Late Model talent.

Now the tour shifts from southern Missouri to central and northern Missouri, where a new challenge awaits the competitors on two vastly different racetracks.

Valley Speedway’s tight, high-banked bullring in Grain Valley has long been known for aggressive side-by-side racing and close-quarters battles, while the sweeping half-mile at Moberly Motorsports Park presents a completely different test of speed, momentum and endurance.

With consistency during opening weekend, Terry Phillips enters the weekend atop the championship standings as the early leader in the inaugural Heartland Late Model Tour title chase.

Both weekend events will feature complete Heartland Late Model Tour racing programs and full championship points.

A $40,000 point fund guaranteed, paying back ten positions, is in place for drivers who compete in 80 percent of the series scheduled events. $10,000 of the fund has been set aside for the inaugural champion.
